"Germinating Genlisea is somewhat tricky. I have problems with somespecies, too. It seems to be essential in some species, that the seed is really fresh! Especially perennial, aquatic species like G. guianensis seem to have short lived seed. Seed of annual species (like G. filiformis or some african Genlisea species) may require a short dry period to germinate. I sow these seed on fresh peat and let the pot dry out completely for about one month. When I re-water the pot again then, I usually get good germination. Nothing like this was necessary for your seed of G. guianensis. I have just sown it on fresh peat, and it germinated about 3-4 weeks later."
